Darren Bent slams Spurs star Harry Kane

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has savaged Harry Kane after his lethargic performance against Manchester United on Friday, per Football Insider.

The England captain played the full 90 minutes as Spurs drew 1-1 with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in north London.

However, he recorded the lowest number of touches for an outfield player that played the full game, and had just one shot on goal which was blocked.

It was Steven Bergwijn who scored Spurs’ goal and Bent was unimpressed with the way Kane performed, despite it being his first appearance since New Year’s Day.

Bent said: “I thought Harry Kane looked like he hasn’t found his legs back at all. He looked totally off the pace.

“It wasn’t quite them playing with a man down but he hasn’t found his form, his feet, yet. He obviously had the injury, he spent a long time out the game so to expect him to come back and be full throttle, that was never, ever going to be the case.

“The only way Harry Kane is going to get back to full match fitness is by playing games. For me he needs to keep playing and doing what he’s doing.”

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This isn’t really the time to judge Kane.

He has gone six months without playing in a game of competitive professional football; he cannot be expected to recapture the form that has won him two Premier League Golden Boots at the drop of a hat.

Kane did all he could; he routinely led the line, dropping deep to help out the midfield, and winning headers in the defensive third at United set-pieces.

No, he didn’t score, but manager Jose Mourinho saw no reason to take him off.

This was a performance that was understandably tired and a little erratic at points.

But judging Kane and tearing into him after his first outing in half-a-year makes little sense.
