40. Rodeo: Calf Roping 

Calf roping, also known as tie-down roping, is a rodeo event that features a calf and a rider mounted on a horse. The goal of this timed event is for the rider to catch the calf by throwing a loop of rope from a lariat around its neck. 

The rider then dismounts from the horse, runs to the calf, and restrains it by tying three legs together. Although it being a sport that is not recognised, it requires a lot of skill. 

39. Rowing 

Rowing is another water sport. It requires good balance and understanding of the water. 

38. Track and Field: Sprints 

Sprinting is where the participant runs as fast as he/she can and although being thrilling to watch, doesn’t involve a massive amount of skill. It involves power and commitment to the sport. 

37. Skateboarding 

Skateboarding is a sport where an individual goes on a board with wheels and they perform stunts and tricks, some of which are unbelievable and thrilling to watch. 

36. Swimming (all strokes) Distance 

Distance swimming requires a lot of endurance and will power. It is extremely hard to perform at a high level in this sport with many participants bowing out at an early age due to the strenuous training the sport requires. 

35. Diving 

Diving is again pretty self-explanatory. The athlete dives from a spring or flat board, performing flips and tricks to try and score points from the judges. 

34. Track and Field: Long, Triple Jumps 

Long and triple jumps again require a lot of power to propel the athlete through the air and into the sand. Mike Powell, who holds the world record, was shy of jumping nine metres by just five centimetres. 

33. Track and field: High Jump 

High jump requires a lot of leg power which lifts the athlete into the air and over the bar. The world record for this is 2.45 metres.

32. Auto Racing 

Auto racing is the sport of racing automobiles for competition. Auto racing has existed since the invention of the automobile. 

31. Skiing: Nordic 

Nordic skiing involves the various types of skiing in which the toe of the ski boot is fixed to the binding in a manner that allows the heel to rise off the ski, unlike Alpine skiing, where the boot is attached to the ski from toe to heel. 

30. Badminton 

Badminton mixes reflexes, power and agility. All of these combine for an exciting, fast-paced sport. 

29. Ski Jumping 

Ski jumping involves participants jumping off slopes and performing tricks and stunts. It requires good balance and tricks at your disposal. 

28. Bobsledding/luge 

Bobsledding and luge require the ability to stay calm when travelling at great speeds. When being that low to the ground, speeds and noises are amplified and so are senses and emotions making these two thrilling sports to watch.

27. Cycling: Sprints 

Sprint cycling (often in a velodrome) involves participants cycling as quickly as they can around an oval shaped track. Cyclists reach great speeds. 

26. Team Handball 

Handball requires a lot of power and tactical awareness. Teams compete with similar rules to basketball, but score in goals. 

25. Skiing: Freestyle 

Freestyle skiing is a skiing discipline comprising aerials, moguls, cross, half-pipe, slopestyle and big air as part of the Winter Olympics. 

24. Fencing 

Fencing is the sport where two athletes are armoured up, only armed with an epee. The person to land the most strikes wins. 

23. Surfing 

Surfing requires great balance and courage. Surfers are often known as ‘daredevils’ who surf some of the biggest waves the world has ever seen.

22. Racquetball/squash 

Squash is the sport where a little rubber ball is hit against a wall. The other player has to return the ball and if he fails to do so, the other player is awarded a point. 

21. Volleyball

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court.
