Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of signing Victor Osimhen haven been boosted by the news that he'll be leaving Lille this summer.
The 21-year-old is attracting plenty of attention with Spurs competing with both Arsenal and Chelsea to sign the young talent.
Osimhen has certainly impressed this term after scoring 18 goals for the Ligue 1 side, and it's that form which has paved the way for him to move on in the coming months.
News of his departure was confirmed by Lille head coach Christophe Galtier who said that the French side were working hard to identify a replacement.
Quoted by the Daily Mail, he said: "Regarding Victor (Osimhen) and Gabriel [Magalhaes], yes, I’ve known for a long time that they’re leaving.
“They’re working hard with us in the meantime. We’re working on the players who are currently here and those likely to replace them.
"Of course, the club is working to replace him [Osimhen].”
GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...
This could be a very good option for Tottenham Hotspur.
Victor Osimhen is an incredibly talented young player who looks destined to play for one of Europe's biggest clubs.
Securing a deal for the 21-year-old won't be easy based on the competition for his signature, but Spurs will still be hopeful.
Jose Mourinho's side certainly need attacking reinforcements - particularly given the speculation over Harry Kane's future.
If the North London side can convince him to join, he may well prove to be an excellent addition who is only going to get better over the coming seasons.
