Dele Alli is expected to miss out on a place in Tottenham Hotspur's starting XI as they prepare to take on West Ham United.

That's the view of former striker Darren Bent who has delivered his verdict on who should start for Jose Mourinho's side.

Spurs put in a decent showing in their return to Premier League action against Manchester United on Friday night - a game which they drew 1-1.

Speaking to Football Insider, Bent believes that the side who matched Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side for long spells in North London deserve another chance to impress against their rivals.

He said: "It’s going to be an interesting one because I think he might go with the same team.

“I think Bergwijn, he’s going to play after his goal and his performance, Harry Kane, he’s not going to drop him, Son, you’re not going to drop him, so the next one is Lamela.

“You’d have to say Lamela played really, really well and to be fair, Lo Celso didn’t even start. I think Lamela might have to wait and wait.

“I think it would be a little bit unfair if Lamela was to come out.

"Every player deserves a fair crack and Lamela hasn’t at times hasn’t covered himself in glory which is why he hasn’t been a regular but when he does play well, I think he’s earned the right to get another go.”

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

While the result against Manchester United was decent enough, it's time that Tottenham Hotspur got back to winning ways.

Jose Mourinho's side are way off the pace in their pursuit of a top four finish, and that's a big concern.

The financial impact of not playing in the Champions League is huge - not to mention the potential knock-on effect that this will have on their star players who will be keen to challenge themselves at the highest level.

Spurs will certainly be favourites against West Ham and I think they need a comprehensive victory to get themselves back on track.
