Arsenal could make a shock swoop for goalkeeper Joe Hart in the coming weeks, per The Daily Express.

The Gunners were rocked by a major injury blow over the weekend, as Bernd Leno was carried off on a stretcher against Brighton & Hove Albion.

He was replaced by Emiliano Martinez and the Express now claims that the club could now make a move for the Burnley stopper.

Hart is set to leave Turf Moor once his contract expires because there is no new one on offer and the Express claims that a switch to the Gunners cannot be entirely ruled out.

The 33-year-old would not cost Arsenal a fee, and would be able to slot him straight into their starting XI as the season comes to its conclusion.

Hart has not played in the Premier League since Boxing Day 2018, when he conceded five goals against Everton.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This is the unfortunate reality that Arsenal find themselves in.

Leno is clearly injured and one has to think that Martinez is not properly trusted to keep goal for the Gunners.

Indeed, he conceded twice against Brighton at the weekend as Arteta’s men lost their second game in a row.

A move for Hart does not guarantee an instant win, however, because of how poor he has been in recent years.

But it would at least fill out the squad and ensure that there were more bodies available for the Spaniard to pick from.
