It's set to be a busy summer at Ibrox as they look to push towards a title challenge next term.

Celtic will be looking for their tenth-straight title - something which Rangers will be determined to stop by recruiting well this summer.

According to Football Insider, one player who has been linked with a move is Jon McLaughlin.

The Sunderland goalkeeper is available for nothing this summer after coming to the end of his contract.

The Black Cats have offered him a new deal to tempt him to stay with the club, but given the reported interest in him it appears unlikely that he'll pen a new deal.

Blackburn Rovers are seen as favourites to complete a move for the Scotland international, but interest from north of the border is bound to be appealing.

Rangers have made no secret of their desire to sign a goalkeeper this summer.

Allan McGregor is the most senior option between the sticks at the moment, however he's lacking competition following the decision to release Jak Alnwick.

Alnwick has since joined St Mirren on a two-year deal, meaning that Steven Gerrard is looking for an experienced option in reserve.

McLaughlin will certainly be a more-than capable deputy, however it remains to be seen whether he'll be happy to make a move where he'll likely be second choice.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This is certainly one that we'll be watching with keen interest.

Rangers are certainly in the market for a new goalkeeper, and with funds limited they'll be looking to make a shrewd addition.

Jon McLaughlin certainly fits into that category.

Available on a free transfer this summer, the Sunderland man looks set to be on the move and will surely be tempted by the opportunity to join Steven Gerrard's side.

The chance to challenge for major honours will be a big pull, and that's something that he'll be keen to factor in to his decision.

He will, however, want certain assurances over the amount of football he's going to play, as McLaughlin is unlikely to want to sit on the bench week in, week out.
