Liverpool were back in action over the weekend.

In a game that could well have seen them crowned champions, they took on Everton and ultimately played out a drab 0-0 draw.

In a weirdly desensitised derby, there was precious little incident until the final 10 minutes, when Jurgen Klopp's side almost threw the game away.

Indeed, Tom Davies hit the post before the final whistle, but Liverpool ultimately continued their record of avoiding defeat against the Toffees, which stretches back to 2010.

They take on Crystal Palace this week, and GIVEMESPORT has taken a look at the best headlines surrounding the club following their return to action!

Liverpool backed to make Coutinho move

Liverpool have been tipped to make a move for Philippe Coutinho in the summer transfer window.

Former Reds star John Aldridge says that a loan move would make sense for both parties, with Coutinho set to return to Barcelona after his loan spell at Bayern Munich this summer.

Speaking to Sunday World via Goal, he said: “I think Liverpool should do all they can to bring him back to Anfield.

“I know there will be some fans out there who might be surprised by my call for Liverpool’s owners to hand Coutinho a route back to Anfield, but let me explain why I think this transfer could work for all parties.

“Despite his troubles in Spain, we are talking about a class player here who lit up the Premier League. He was a big hero of the Anfield faithful during his time at the club.

“He understands how English football works and would not need long to acclimatise if he returns to Liverpool. Crucially, this loan move could be funded within the tight financial boundaries Klopp is working with this summer.”

Liverpool have been linked with Barcelona ace Ousmane Dembele and they have now learned his asking price.

Sport Witness quotes Mundo Deportivo, who claim that the Catalan giants are open to the idea of selling the France international in the coming transfer window.

Dembele is said to be valued at between €50 million (£45.2m) and €60m (£54.2m).

However, they are also said to be willing to let Dembele leave on a loan deal, provided there is an option for the loaning club to buy him.

Jurgen Klopp is said to be in the market for a new forward to provide competition to Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino.

New signings called for

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has called on the club to strengthen their squad this summer, per Sky Sports

The Reds missed out on the signing of Timo Werner ahead of the summer transfer window, with the Germany international joining Chelsea instead.

And Carragher has called on the club to make a move for a new forward, pointing to a drop-off in quality beyond the front three of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino.

He said: "The front three are as good as anyone in Europe but whenever one of them is out, there is a massive drop off.

"When Liverpool dropped points at Manchester United, Salah wasn't playing. That's why Liverpool need to strengthen the front three.

"Divock Origi is a legend for Liverpool as he's scored big goals at big moments but doesn't have quite the quality. Is Minamino part of the front three? Not for me.

"The front three are very robust and don't miss many games but if Liverpool were to lose one of them, especially the two wide players, for a lengthy amount of time they could have a real problem next season."
