The money in English football has gone through the roof since the turn of the century.
It's crazy to think that we entered the 21st century with Alan Shearer's £15 million move to Newcastle United as the most expensive fee ever paid by a club on English shores.
Fast forward to 2020 and we live in a world where the record stands at the reported £94.50 million Manchester United paid for Paul Pogba, which is more than six times the cost of Shearer.
So, yes, it would be fair to say that the English game has become awash with heavy transfer fees as billionaire owners such as Roman Abramovich and Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan flaunt their cash.
However, those who support clubs outside of the Premier League will know that transfer fees in the millions aren't necessarily the norm and not every organisation find themselves sat on a gold mine.

And few things have been more illustrative of this fact than a recent list by Transfermarkt, which ranked every English club in their database by transfer spending since the 2010/11 season.
