Steve Bruce's men turned in one of their most impressive and free-flowing performances of the season as they swept aside Sheffield United 3-0.
To make matters even better, record-signing Joelinton managed to score just his second Premier League goal after arriving last summer.
It feels like everything is starting to come together at St James' Park at just the right time, especially if the takeover finally goes through.
When that does, however, seems to be anyone's guess at the moment.
Speculation has been rife about when the deal may finally be approved and announced, with journalists last week suggesting it could be done before they took on the Blades.
Obviously, that didn't happen, but the latest news is that the deal could be wrapped up by the end of the current week.
Providing the latest on PIF's attempts to buy the Magpies, Northern Echo journalist Scott Wilson claimed in his latest column:
"There is a growing sense that a Premier League verdict is imminent – potentially even coming before the end of the week - with an increased degree of confidence that Amanda Staveley’s £300m buyout will receive the green light."
Saudi Arabia recently came under fire for piracy of Premier League broadcasts and as a result, are yet to pass the owner's and director's test.

Steve Bruce has admitted that he isn't really interested in what's happening but he'd be a fool to ignore it. After all, it's going to have a colossal say on the way the club is run.
Whether that's more transfer funds to use in the upcoming market or just his general job security, it should be of incredible intrigue to the Newcastle manager.
Of course, the Magpies have Henry Mauriss to fall back on if PIF's proposed takeover doesn't go through but his standing is rather unclear compared to the Saudi's.
Their interest has been all too clear for the past two months, and despite the long wait, Newcastle and English football hasn't lost its appeal.
