Celtic are putting plans in place for a big summer in the transfer market.

After securing the Scottish title last term, the Bhoys are hoping to secure their 10th successive title next term.

If they're to do so, they'll have to stave off the increasingly threat of Steven Gerrard's Rangers who will be their closest competition for the title.

That said, Celtic be keen to do all that they can to get the title wrapped up.

If the latest links are anything to go by, they certainly mean business.

According to AS, as quoted by Sport Witness, the Bhoys are interested in Takefusa Kubo.

The Real Madrid star is currently on loan at RCD Mallorca where he has scored two goals and created three for his teammates this term.

At 19 years of age, Kubo is one of the hottest young properties in world football, and has even been compared to Lionel Messi.

It's claimed that Ajax, Lazio, AC Milan and nine other Spanish clubs are also keen on a move.

Kubo is unlikely to be available on a permanent switch.

Despite Transfermarkt valuing him at £12.1million, the starlet has a release clause of €250million in his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning that a loan switch is much more likely.

Whether the Bhoys can beat off the intense competition though, remains to be seen.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a move this would be for Celtic.

Takefusa Kubo is one of the most talented young players on the planet and looks set to become one of the worlds' best in the next few years.

He's perhaps not ready to break into the first team at Real Madrid, but that doesn't mean that he won't in the coming years.

Playing for a club like Celtic would be ideal for him at this point in his career.

He could move to Parkhead and be a key player for one of the biggest institutions in the United Kingdom.

It remains to be seen whether Celtic can beat the competition to sign him, but if they can, it would be quite a coup.
