Portsmouth striker David Nugent has put talks over a new deal at Fratton Park on hold.

The former England international is Pompey's top scorer with 12 goals this term, but he will be out of contract in the summer.

Nugent told The News: "We're still as we were with my contract. There is no more news at the moment."

He added: "I just want to concentrate on having a good finish to the end of the season.

"We've still got seven games to go, which are really important to us. I want to focus on those rather than my contract at the moment."
