Liverpool were back to their very best on Wednesday night.
Taking on Crystal Palace at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s side were purring throughout the clash, turning in a display of the highest order against Roy Hodgson’s men.
Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Fabinho, and Sadio Mane gave the Reds an impressive victory as they returned to action on Merseyside.
It means that, should Chelsea beat Manchester City later this week, the Reds will be crowned champions.
It was a performance befitting a team that has lost just once all season, and means they have the chance to top 100 points this term.
After 31 games, they have 86 points and could well finish the season on 107 points should they win all of their remaining matches.

In fact, it could well happen this week if history repeats itself.
Chelsea were kingmakers when Leicester City recorded perhaps the unlikeliest triumph in the history of English football, drawing with Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge to hand the Foxes the title in 2016.
This week, they are in a similar position; if they take any points off Manchester City later this week, they will crown the Reds champions.
Liverpool have been waiting since 1990 to lift the highest prize in English football; they have never done so in the Premier League era.
If the stars align, that drought, finally, will end this week.
Fabinho’s rocket
This deserves an entry of its own.
Fabinho has become a key member of the Reds’ squad this season, turning in a number of assured performances in defensive midfield.
He scored in the clash with Manchester City in November, a 3-1 victory, and was on the scoresheet again on Wednesday night.
Collecting the ball around 30 yards from goal, the Brazilian was given the time and space needed to line up a shot and did so with aplomb.
The former AS Monaco midfielder almost took the net off, smashing the ball into the bottom corner and handing his side a 3-0 lead in the process.
This was a timely reminder of the 26-year-old's abilities.
Carragher makes Alexander-Arnold claim
Jamie Carragher was commentating on the game for Sky Sports and was delighted to see Alexander-Arnold open the scoring with a superb free-kick in the first-half.
The right-back took aim from just outside the box, bending it into the top corner and past the despairing dive of Wayne Hennessey.
And Carragher believes that his goal will have “shut up” his critics, who were unimpressed with his display against Everton in a drab 0-0 draw last week.
He said, as transcribed by The Daily Star: “It’s almost Beckham-esque. Looks like he’s going to be a set-piece specialist.
“Maybe he needed to shut up a few from Goodison Park when he didn’t have his shooting boots on. I think we’ve got to expect that when players have not played for so long.”
The England right-back had just one shot on target against the Toffees.
