The race to become Scottish champions next year is already very much underway.

While Rangers have aspirations of kicking on next term and providing viable competition, the target at Parkhead is much more ambitious.

Coming away as Champions next term will mean that Celtic have made in 10 titles in a row - something that their rivals will certainly find difficult to stomach.

However if the Bhoys are to do that then they'll need to make sure that they make a success of the summer's transfer market.

Based on the latest reports, it doesn't seem to have got off to the best of starts.

According to The Telegraph, the Bhoys have lost one of their prized assets to a Premier League giant.

It's claimed that Josh Adam is set to link up with Manchester City as he continues his development in the game.

The 16-year-old had also attracted interest from Bayern Munich but opted to sign for the Premier League champions on a scholarship until he turns 17 when he'll pen a professional deal.

Adam isn't the first Celtic youngster to be poached, either.

Liam Morrison recently signed for the German champions, while Barry Hepburn also looks set to make the move to the continent.

It's claimed that they almost had a similar situation with 15-year-old Daniel Kelly who was attracting interest from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Benfica.

However he ultimately agreed to extend his stay at Celtic Park.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a blow this is for Celtic.

The Scottish champions are determined to build for the future, and with such a crop of talented youngsters it seemed that the next few years were in very good hands.

Unfortunately when the likes of Manchester City or Bayern Munich come knocking, it's hard for any youngster to resist.

For Josh Adam this will definitely be a big moment in his career, but for Celtic there's bound to be a bit of bitterness about the whole thing.

You could argue that his long-term development could be better served by starting out in Glasgow - with first team opportunities under Pep Guardiola likely to be very hard to come by.

However if he gets his head down the potential rewards of such a move are massive.
