Tanguy Ndombele remains a mystery for Tottenham Hotspur.

The France international arrived at the club for a club-record fee, moving from Lyon for £53.8 million.

The 23-year-old has struggled for form and fitness throughout the campaign, under both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho.

In total, he has made 19 league appearances, scoring two goals and registering two assists. Twelve of those have been starts, and he has completed the 90 minutes just three times.

The last time he finished a league game came in the December clash with Norwich City and it now appears that he could well be on his way out of the club in the summer transfer window.

The Athletic reports that Ligue 1 giants PSG are interested in securing his signature, should he move on from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ndombele has been the subject of an enquiry from Thomas Tuchel’s men as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Even so, the report states that any possible move would be a hypothetical scenario, as he remains focused on forcing his way into the Spurs XI.

PSG may seem to have the financial resources to match Spurs’ asking price but he is tied into a contract until 2025; one has to expect that Levy would want to make a profit.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Ndombele is a mercurial talent.

He has shown glimpses of how good he is this season, and while he is a languid presence, he is also incredibly gifted.

Giving up on him after a season just doesn’t make any sort of sense and it may ultimately come down to whether Ndombele wants to force his way out.

He has been under-used thus far this season and has not played a single minute since the resumption of proceedings post the COVID-19 suspension.

One has to think that when he is given the chance, he has to grab it; if he doesn’t, a move may well become a reality.

His future is ultimately down to him.
