Carlisle are to offer Wembley hero Peter Murphy a new contract.

Manager Greg Abbott confirmed the club will seek to keep the defender after he scored the only goal in the Cumbrians` victory over Brentford in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final.

Abbott told BBC Cumbria: "He's earned an extension to the deal he's on so hopefully we can sit down and try and do that over the next fortnight."

He added: "If he can keep his performances right then he goes on for as long as he keeps at that level, and that's down to him."
