Steven Gerrard said he would be the happiest man in the world if Liverpool won the Premier League title.
Back in March, the Anfield legend told reporters: “It’s in the back of my mind. I’ve got a day job now and all my focus is obviously on Rangers, but I’ve got one eye on Anfield and I just hope the lads can go and get us over the line because I’d be the happiest man in the world.”
Gerrard never managed to win the Premier League title himself during his illustrious career - although he came mighty close in 2014 - but he reacted on Instagram on Thursday evening shortly after Jurgen Klopp’s side got the job done.
Gerrard posted an image of the current group of players alongside the title: ‘Premier League Champions 2019|20’.
He then posted the following message on what must have been an emotional night for the legendary midfielder.
"Congratulations to all @liverpoolfc on winning the premier league,” he wrote. “Incredible achievement from a fantastic squad of top players.
“Lead by a world class manager and coaching team also a special mention for the backing from FSG .
“And lastly and most importantly the fans who have waited 30 years . ❤️ let the party begin 🥳”

This title way goes some way to banishing the demons of the 2013-14 season.
His slip against Chelsea has haunted him ever since - but hopefully Liverpool's latest triumph will now allow him, and everybody else, to finally move on.
Meanwhile, Gerrard's former strike partner Fernando Torres has also reacted with a heartfelt message on Twitter.

"Unbelievable squad, magnificent manager, great staff but above all my sincere congrats to every single LFC supporter. You've been waiting so long and finally that desired trophy is yours. Very well deserved🙌🏻🏆#YNWA"

Torres fell out of favour with many Liverpool fans following his controversial departure to Chelsea in 2011.
But bridges have been rebuilt in recent years - and Torres's congratulatory message will help to further re-endear him to the Anfield faithful.
