Liverpool are officially Premier League champions for the very first time.

The internet has near enough exploded with the news that Jurgen Klopp has guided the Reds to their first league title in 30 years after Manchester City suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Chelsea.

The Blues set themselves well on the way for victory with Christian Pulisic's superb solo goal, but Liverpool fans were left biting their nails again when Kevin De Bruyne levelled from a free-kick.

However, a moment of madness from Fernandinho was enough to earn a red card as well as a penalty for Chelsea with Willian duly dispatching from 12 yards to secure the three points.

It's news that has been greeted with dismay by all those who jokingly dislike Liverpool Football Club which, it goes without saying, makes for a rather large demographic.

Liverpool crowned champions

A number of Manchester United legends have expressed their reactions on social media, not best pleased that the team they once 'knocked off their perch' are now sitting proudly back on it.

And the news will hurt nobody more than Gary Neville, who has jokingly said that he will go into hiding if Liverpool do indeed wrap up the title and low and behold...

Neville simply tweeted a waving goodbye emoji as Liverpool's fate became apparent, but it was Sky Sports who stole the show with a hilarious video about the United legend.

Sky Sports' hilarious video

Such was the inevitability of Liverpool's triumph that they'd clearly had time to cobble together a hilarious edit of their pundits and staff searching for Neville.

The 73-second belter includes Graeme Souness carrying out an aggressive interrogation, Jamie Carragher running through the streets of Liverpool and John Barnes doing his best 'Taken' impression.

It then amusingly culminates in Neville arriving at the airport with a one-way ticket to Papua New Guinea.

If you can keep a straight face through the whole, then we're sorry but you simply aren't human - check it out down below:

We suspects there's thousands, if not millions, of people feeling like Neville right now.

But whatever your feelings about Liverpool and how much you like to banter them, there's no denying that they've been the best in the land this season.

So, regardless of whether you're partying the night away on Merseyside or tucking into your hideaway in the South Pacific, we can all raise a toast to Klopp's fantastic squad.
