The story of the summer at Tottenham will likely revolve around Tanguy Ndombele.

It's been revealed in recent days that the Frenchman never wants to play under Jose Mourinho ever again.

It's a new twist in the midfielder's time at Spurs which has been far from plain sailing since he arrived through the doors.

He's been restricted to a lack of football and has struggled to make any form of impact, particularly under Mourinho.

Bayern Munich and PSG are both said to be interested.

However, another saga could revolve around Chelsea's Willian.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Spurs but their pursuit may have just taken a damaging blow.

That's according to a report in The Daily Mail.

Willian

They suggest that Willian, currently valued at £20.2m, is actually in talks to sign a new deal with the Blues.

Initially, it looked as though he'd walk out of Stamford Bridge on a free transfer. However, that now looks far from the case with Frank Lampard looking to tie him down.

The report states Chelsea are doing so in order to keep him away from the club's London rivals.

Willian signed a short-term deal for the remainder of the season not too long ago but still hasn't been signed on long-term.

Willian Mourinho

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

This shouldn't be disastrous news for Spurs, primarily because of the player's record at Chelsea.

On his day, Willian is a crafty player, but he simply doesn't register enough goals or assists for someone warranting his £120k-a-week wages.

In 2019/20, he's found the back of the net seven times while registering six assists.

It's a decent record, but it's nowhere near the likes of Steven Bergwijn and Son Heung-min. Between them, the wide players have 25 goals and 23 assists between them.

Add Harry Kane to that forward line and it would surely be incredibly hard for Willian to nail down a regular spot in Mourinho's side.

The Brazilian would be a handy squad player for Spurs but whether he wants that is another matter.

If he's not going to sign new terms with Chelsea, you'd have to imagine not.
