Leeds have had a rather troublesome time since football returned.

Pablo Hernandez picked up a niggle, as he sometimes does now aged 35, while Tyler Roberts suffered from cramp against Cardiff.

To make matters worse, they suffered a damaging 2-0 defeat versus the Bluebirds.

The Whites have been famed for slipping up at the final hurdle and if they lose to Fulham this weekend, hearts may start to beat a little faster.

Surely they won't fail to get promoted again?

Whether they do or don't go up will have a considerable say on their spending power in the transfer market.

Promotion could see Leeds presented with a war chest but if recent reports are to be believed, they won't need many funds to acquire their latest transfer target.

Bielsa

According to Phil Hay, the Whites are in the hunt to sign a young midfielder currently plying his trade for Crystal Palace.

He happens to be Jadan Raymond, 16-year-old making waves at academy level.

The youngster is "highly-regarded" at Selhurst Park but with his contract expiring at the end of the month, is free to sign for another team.

Due to his age, Victor Orta would still have to pay Palace a compensation fee of £250,000, but that is rather measly for a club of Leeds' size.

Orta

Per The Athletic, Raymond is already in advanced talks to sign for United, but they face competition from Portuguese outfit Vitoria, a team currently boasting former Spurs starlet Marcus Edwards.

He has been free to discuss terms since June 6th and now looks even closer to leaving Palace permanently.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

This would hardly raise eyebrows at Leeds but it's important to further the quality of players within the academy.

However, on this occasion, one has to wonder whether the Whites need another midfielder in their ranks.

Regardless of his apparent potential, the teenager would be behind a number of players in the central midfield pecking order.

When it comes to younger players who can feature in the middle of the park, you have the likes of Jamie Shackleton and Robbie Gotts, while it's hard to forget about Jordan Stevens and Nohan Kenneh too.

Adding further names, you also have Mateusz Bogusz and Alfie McCalmont to throw into the mix.

That's a lot of central players lingering on the fringes of academy level and senior football. Yet, Bielsa hasn't given too many of them a real opportunity.

If that continues, Raymond would not only struggle to make an impression on the manager but would find it difficult to earn minutes for Carlos Corberan's U23 side.
