Liverpool champions: Every squad member’s best Premier League performance of the season

Liverpool’s long wait for their maiden Premier League title is finally over.

The Reds are champions of England for the first time since 1990 and what a remarkable season it’s been.

The best team in the country by a mile right now, every member of the squad can be immensely proud of their efforts over the past 10 months.

Now that Liverpool are finally over the line, we thought we’d look at every Liverpool player’s best performance in the Premier League this season, with the stats courtesy of

There are still a handful of fixtures remaining, of course, but *these* are the performances that helped win Liverpool the title.



Best performance: Liverpool 2-0 Man Utd, January 19 (Rating: 7.78)

Worth his weight in gold for Liverpool, the world-class goalkeeper provided a brilliant assist for Mohamed Salah in this fixture to earn the Reds a memorable 2-0 victory.


Best performance: Burnley 0-3 Liverpool, August 31 (Rating: 7.33)

Stepped up early in the season after Alisson was sidelined, Adrian kept a clean sheet away at Turf Moor at the end of August.



Virgil van Dijk

Best performance: Liverpool 2-1 Brighton, November 30 (Rating: 8.89)

One of four Man of the Match awards Virgil van Dijk picked up this season, the Dutchman scored both goals in a 2-1 win at home to Brighton.


Trent Alexander-Arnold

Best performance: Leicester 0-4 Liverpool, December 26 (Rating: 9.66)

According to WhoScored’s stats, this was the best performance of any Liverpool player in the Premier League this season. The right-back was in imperious form, scoring one and setting up Liverpool’s other three goals in a 4-0 victory away at Leicester.

Joel Matip

Best performance: Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal, August 24 (Rating: 8.25)

Joel Matip scored the opening goal in Liverpool’s impressive 3-1 win over Arsenal early in the campaign.


Andrew Robertson

Best performance: Chelsea 1-2 Liverpool, September 22 (Rating: 7.9)

The best left-back in the world right now? Andrew Robertson has been superb all season but his best performance, according to WhoScored, was in the 2-1 win away at Stamford Bridge. The Scot provided the assist for Roberto Firmino’s goal.


Dejan Lovren

Best performance: Liverpool 5-2 Everton, December 4 (Rating: 8.26)

Several of Liverpool’s players received high ratings for this Merseyside derby victory, including Dejan Lovren, who set up the second of Divock Origi’s goals.


Neco Williams

Best performance: Liverpool 4-0 Crystal Palace, June 24 (Rating: 6.95)

Neco Williams came on for his Premier League debut in the win over Palace and made a positive impression during his 16-minute cameo.

Joe Gomez

Best performance: Liverpool 2-0 Watford, December 14 (Rating: 8.04)

Joe Gomez played the full 90 minutes in December’s 2-0 victory against Watford and was Liverpool’s second-best performer behind Man of the Match, Salah.



Jordan Henderson

Best performance: Liverpool 4-0 Southampton, February 1 (Rating: 8.95)

An emphatic win for the Reds, Liverpool’s captain scored and provided an assist against the Saints at Anfield.



Best performance: Liverpool 4-0 Crystal Palace, June 24 (Rating: 9.64)

Fabinho was absolutely outstanding at home to Crystal Palace, providing a glorious assist for Salah before thumping in Liverpool’s third goal from distance.

Naby Keita

Best performance: Bournemouth 0-3 Liverpool, December 7 (Rating: 9.16)

It’s been something of a stop-start season for Naby Keita, but the energetic midfielder bossed it in the 3-0 win away at Bournemouth, scoring one goal and assisting another.


Georginio Wijnaldum

Best performance: Liverpool 5-2 Everton, December 4 (Rating: 8.28)

One of four players in this game to receive a rating above 8.0 from WhoScored, the Dutch midfielder added gloss to the scoreline by netting Liverpool’s fifth goal in the 90th minute.


Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Best performance: Liverpool 4-0 Southampton, February 1 (Rating: 7.96)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain picked up WhoScored’s Man of the Match award after scoring in January’s 2-0 win over West Ham, but he received a slightly higher rating against his former club days later.


James Milner

Best performance: Liverpool 2-1 Bournemouth, March 7 (Rating: 7.83)

For *that* epic goal-line clearance alone, James Milner deserved at least a 9, for our money.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Best performance: Liverpool 5-2 Everton, December 4 (Rating: 7.63)

Xherdan Shaqiri hasn’t played as often as he would have liked this season, but scoring against Everton back in December was a highlight for the Swiss midfielder.


Adam Lallana

Best performance: Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool, October 20 (Rating: 7.03)

If that late equaliser at Old Trafford is to be Adam Lallana’s final goal for Liverpool, that’s not a bad way to bow out.


Curtis Jones

Best performance: West Ham 0-2 Liverpool, January 29 (Rating: 6.39)

The 19-year-old has only played 20 minutes of Premier League football, so take his rating with a pinch of salt.


Harvey Elliott

Best performance: Liverpool 4-0 Crystal Palace, June 24 (Rating: 6.2)

The same applies to Harvey Elliott, who has an extremely bright future ahead of him.



Sadio Mane

Best performance: Liverpool 5-2 Everton, December 4 (Rating: 9.22)

Liverpool’s best performer this season, according to WhoScored, Sadio Mane has been nothing short of magnificent. The Senegalese forward provided two assists and scored against the Toffees in December.


Mohamed Salah

Best performance: Liverpool 4-0 Southampton, February 1 (Rating: 9.39)

It’s been another excellent campaign from the Egyptian king, who scored two second-half goals against Southampton in February.


Roberto Firmino

Best performance: Burnley 0-3 Liverpool, August 31 (Rating: 9.45)

In the game which saw Mane kick off at Salah, Roberto Firmino produced a Man of the Match display, scoring one and assisting another.


Divock Origi

Best performance: Liverpool 5-2 Everton, December 4 (Rating: 8.61)

Divock Origi hasn’t scored as many goals as he would have liked this season, but he still managed to net a brace against Everton.


Takumi Minamino

Best performance: Everton 0-0 Liverpool, June 21 (Rating: 6.42)

Liverpool’s January signing is still finding his feet at Anfield following his move from Red Bull Salzburg.
