Liverpool have won the Premier League title with SEVEN matches still to play.

We may be in June but in terms of matches remaining, it’s the earliest a club has ever won the league.

They will now have the pleasure of receiving a guard of honour from title rivals Manchester City.

A guard of honour is “when a person or group of people line up to congratulate other(s) on an achievement.”

It’s a tradition in football for sides to stand and welcome the champions onto the pitch by applauding them. It’s not compulsory but it’s something we’ve regularly seen in the Premier League.

And Jurgen Klopp was asked about the prospect of walking out at the Etihad next Thursday to a potential guard of honour - a question which confused the German.

Klopp was confused at the idea of a guard of honour and then burst out laughing and said ‘oh my God’ when told the seven teams Liverpool have still got to play could do just that.

Take a look:

Brilliant.

Speaking on Friday afternoon following one hell of a party, Klopp showed his winning mentality by insisting his side won’t stop now.

“We will not stop,” Klopp said.

“That doesn't mean we will win everything. Other teams will be better. I can't promise we will win something, but I can promise we will do everything to improve and I think that's possible.

“What is next?!? The last 13 months were pretty special for us, that's true. It was an incredible football time, even last season winning so many games. I couldn't be more thankful to be part of that.”
