Tottenham Hotspur are facing up to a summer saga.

Tanguy Ndombele has been something of an enigma for the club since arriving from Lyon last summer for a club-record fee and there has been talk in recent days that he could well be on his way out of the club.

There have been rumours of interest from Barcelona and the potential of Spurs calling time on his Lilywhite career and cashing in.

It is unlikely to have an easy resolution but there has now been a new update from Le10sport.

The French outlet claims that they have been unable to confirm reports that Ndombele was engaged in a row with manager Jose Mourinho in which he informed the Portuguese that he did not want to play for him.

They go on to report that a conversation with the player’s entourage has shined a light on his possible future destinations.

While PSG have been mentioned as possible suitors, this report claims that there has been no discussion whatsoever of a possible move for the France international to Parc des Princes.

Instead, they are hoping to sign Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and have not expressed an interest in snapping Ndombele up.

He signed a five-year contract upon his arrival and Le10sport reports that his high salary has made a departure remarkably difficult.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This is the wisdom of handing a player a lengthy contract.

Spurs made a significant investment in Ndombele and they are clearly not likely to throw in the towel on him just yet.

In fact, the opposite is likely true; they will be just as desperate for him to make a success of life in London as he will.

That PSG do not appear to be an option will be a boost for Spurs as they look to continue to build under Mourinho.

Next season will be his first full campaign in charge; he will need Ndombele fit and firing.

Moving him on makes little sense.
