Surprise, surprise, without Pablo Hernandez last weekend, Leeds struggled.

Tyler Roberts and Mateusz Klich managed a solitary key pass between them as the Whites' Spanish magician sat out through injury.

The creative midfielder has trained all week and could be fit for a crunch match against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

It would be a timely return for a player that reached 24 goal contributions last season, and has 12 to his name this term.

He is a two-time Leeds Player of the Season for a reason and if they're to achieve promotion as soon as possible, Hernandez will need to be fit.

Aged 35, his best years are clearly behind him, and thus, they could do with adding more creativity in the summer transfer window.

Whether they get promoted or stay in the Championship will have a pretty big say on how much they can spend, but one player they like has been revealed by journalist Phil Hay.

The Scottish reporter featured on the latest episode of the Talking Shutt podcast and had some very interesting transfer news to share.

Bielsa

Earlier this week it was revealed that Norwich midfielder Emi Buendia had caught Leeds' interest and could join the Whites this summer.

They were rumours that Hay was quick to pass comment on, saying:

"He's definitely someone they’re aware of. Although I don’t think, at this stage, somebody that they’d be dead set on going for. Leeds are absolutely interested in him in the sense that they like him, and they like his ability."

Buendia

Although Leeds like the player, it hasn't been specified whether they're ready to bid for the tricky Argentine playmaker.

He has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this term, taking to the top-flight like a duck to water after playing in the Championship.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

A player like Buendia would be the perfect embodiment of a Marcelo Bielsa player.

The 23-year-old has racked up an impressive seven assists and is adept at finding his teammates as he is when being a little more selfish.

The Argentine is a mighty fine dribbler, registering a tally of 3.2 dribbles per game.

To put that into context, Jack Harrison has the most dribbles in the Leeds squad, but he's only sitting on 1.8 successful take-ons per match.

Buendia is a fabulous player on his day and it's clear he could add something to the Leeds squad they're missing.

With Hernandez in the twilight of his career, there couldn't be a better time to bring in a player of Buendia's quality.
