Premier League football is back but it’s not quite the same without the fans, is it?
As the saying goes: “Football without fans is nothing”.
It’s been great to watch football return to our screens but the silence - or the faux crowd noise - is just bizarre.
It seems we’re a long way away from seeing a stadium full of fans again.
However, when fans do return to stadiums, there could be a change that supporters will welcome.
According to The Times, Premier League clubs will ‘campaign for fans to be able to drink in their seats.’
The 25-year-old law prevents fans from drinking alcohol in sight of the pitch.
Since 1985, fans are allowed to consume alcohol 15 minutes either side of a game but not in their seats.
However, clubs believe that it 'encourages binge drinking' among supporters.
One Premier League club chairman said: "The ban actually encourages binge drinking, because you have fans trying to down three or four pints in an hour or less.
"A law change could promote more responsible drinking and behaviour."
According to TalkSport, Sunderland, Ipswich Town, Doncaster Rovers, Accrington Stanley, Port Vale, Forest Green Rovers, Lincoln City, Tranmere Rovers and Northampton Town want to test the idea.
Meanwhile, Grimsby Town, Newport County and Gillingham have also shown their interest.
Imagine sitting in your seat and being able to drink pints while watching Premier League football.
