Everton are identifying potential targets ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Toffees have endured a difficult season this term, appointing Carlo Ancelotti in December after the sacking of Marco Silva.

The latter was fired in December, with the club in the relegation zone.

Everton have had just one transfer window with Ancelotti in charge – January – but they did not make a single signing in that market.

Now, Tuttomercatoweb reports that informal contact has been made with one potential signing this summer.

Indeed, Adrien Rabiot is said to be a target of Ancelotti’s as he looks to remodel his squad.

Rabiot joined Juventus last summer but has struggled for minutes thus far this term, making just 13 starts under Maurizio Sarri.

He played under Ancelotti at PSG, though, in the 2012/13 season, making just nine appearances in all competitions.

Only one of those was a start in Ligue 1, but the report claims that Everton have initiated contact with the France international as the summer window looms.

Rabiot is reportedly keen to move to England, but Tuttomercatoweb states that other avenues could possibly emerge.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Rabiot is an excellent performer but he just hasn’t been able to settle in Italy.

One has to wonder if Juve would be willing to cash in on the 25-year-old, especially given that he has a contract until 2025.

Transfermarkt value him at £22.95m but any kind of fee will present a profit, as Juve signed him on a free transfer.

The question must also be asked as to whether Rabiot would want to play under Ancelotti again, given that he barely made any impact while he was in charge at PSG.

Perhaps he ought to wait it out and see what other interest emerges; Everton may not be the best option.
