Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik this summer.

GIVEMESPORT reported earlier this week that Jose Mourinho has identified the Serie A club’s forward as a potential acquisition in the coming transfer window.

There is the possibility that Erik Lamela could go to the Serie A club in part-exchange but a spanner has now been thrown into the works.

Indeed, Milik’s agent, Vincenzo Morabito, has been interviewed by Area Napoli and those quotes have been transcribed by Sport Witness.

And in those, he expresses his doubts about the possibility of the Poland international moving to north London because of the elephant in the room: The fact that Harry Kane is the undisputed first-choice striker under Jose Mourinho’s management.

He said: “Milik’s problem is his contract expires in 2021.

“I’m not so convinced of Tottenham; he would go there and be the reserve. Tottenham wanted Olivier Giroud in the past and he didn’t accept because there is no room with Harry Kane.”

Morabito does say, however, that the forward’s exit from the club, for whom he has scored 47 goals in 112 games, is “inevitable” in the coming transfer window.

Juventus have also been linked, per the report, and he could end up moving to the Italian club instead.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This is a problem that Spurs are constantly going to face.

Kane is one of the best strikers in world football and when he is fit, he starts. There isn’t a question about this.

Trying to recruit back-up for him, then, means that players have to accept that they aren’t going to get as many starts as they would perhaps like.

It seems as though Milik desperately wants first-team football, as does his agent.

That may well rule Spurs out and it means they have to go back to the drawing board ahead of the summer window..

This is not good news at all.
