Rangers FC have big plans to take back the city of Glasgow.

It's been their rivals Celtic who have dominated Scottish football in recent years after securing nine-straight Premiership titles.

But with the 10th in their sights, Steven Gerrard's side will have ambitions of taking the next title back to Ibrox.

If they're to do that, Rangers will need to strengthen in the transfer market - something that they're already showing signs of doing.

Jon McLaughlin is the biggest arrival after signing on a free transfer from Sunderland, but deals for Jermain Defoe, Ianis Hagi and Calvin Bassey have also been completed.

Bolstering the attacking ranks looks to be a priority with speculation surrounding Alfredo Morelos's future, and that has led them to the door of one well-known figure.

According to HLN, via Anderlecht fansite Anderlecht Online, Rangers have had a bid rejected for Kemar Roofe.

The striker currently plays for Anderlecht after joining from Leeds United 12 months ago.

It's reported that the bid was for a season-long loan deal with the option of a permanent deal, however that offer has been turned down by the Belgian giants.

Roofe, who is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, is a familiar name at Ibrox with the Glasgow side pursuing a deal from the striker last summer, only to miss out to the Belgian giants who signed the player for £7million.

But after a successful season on the continent, it seems that the club are going to go back with a second attempt to lure him to the club.

Any move will depend on what happens to Morelos, who has been linked with a £15million move to several clubs this summer.

Roofe certainly showed his goalscoring credentials last term after scoring seven goals in just 16 appearances, in a season that was hampered by injury.

But if Rangers could keep the striker fit, he'd almost certainly be a reliable source of goals.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a deal this would be.

While a move to Rangers FC depends on the sale of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe would certainly be a suitable replacement.

Morelos has been outstanding for Steven Gerrard's side but if the interest in him turns into something more substantial, the club will need a suitable replacement.

The former Leeds man has an impressive record in front of goal, and that would no doubt continue if he was to make the move to Glasgow.

I'd love this deal to happen, but I'm sure the preference of most fans would be to keep Alfredo Morelos at the club for a little while longer.
