Manchester United are poised to lose one of their most talented young players this week.Angel Gomes will leave Old Trafford on Tuesday (June 30), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggested during Monday’s press conference.Earlier this month, Solskjaer sounded optimistic that Gomes would stay at United, telling reporters: “Angel is a top kid we've had at the club for so many years. We've offered him a deal and hopefully he'll take that and if not I wish him all the best. From what I understand it's not too far away – if not we'll wish him all the best.”But on Monday, the Man Utd boss said: “To be honest, I’ve not heard from them last night or this morning so it seems like they haven’t managed to agree.“The answer is probably short and yes. I’ve got no news. Nothing. It doesn’t look like it.”Gomes, 19, has been with United since the age of six and has long been tipped for big things at Old Trafford.

Fans were particularly eager to see the talented England Under-20 international in the first team.

However, Gomes has struggled for first-team minutes in recent seasons, making just 10 appearances since 2017.

Some United supporters are fearing they may have another Paul Pogba situation on their hands.

Pogba, frustrated due to a lack of first-team football, quit United for Juventus in 2012 and went on to become one of the world’s most sought-after midfielders.

The Red Devils, having lost the Frenchman for nothing four years earlier, ended up paying a world-record £89.3 million fee to re-sign their former starlet in 2016.

Incidentally, Juventus are the current favourites to sign Gomes on a free transfer this summer.

That’s according to Paddy Power - per the Daily Mail - followed by Chelsea (4/1), PSG (6/1), Barcelona (8/1), Real Madrid (10/1), Manchester City (14/1) and Liverpool (20/1).

The idea of Gomes ending up at Liverpool sounds fanciful, so it’s probably safe to rule that one out.

It’s hard to imagine the attacking midfielder getting more minutes at Anfield, where competition for first-team places is even fiercer.

The same applies for Manchester City.

Real Madrid? We can’t see that one happening. Or Barcelona, for that matter.

Barça, though, have been linked in the past to Gomes, whose idol is Andres Iniesta.

PSG is a possibility. The French side’s acquisition of Xavi Simons from Barcelona last summer proves they’re looking to snap up the stars of tomorrow.

Chelsea is arguably the most intriguing team on the list.

Could Frank Lampard successfully lure the teenager to Stamford Bridge?

The Independent are now reporting that Chelsea are ready to offer Gomes a lucrative contract after he rejected United's latest offer of £25,000 a week.
