Alexis Sanchez’s future has taken yet another twist.

The Chile international has endured a genuinely difficult season.

He moved to Inter Milan on loan from Manchester United in the summer but it seems as though he will not be remaining in Italy at this point.

The Daily Mirror reports that the two clubs have failed to agree to a loan extension, keeping Alexis at the San Siro.

The former Arsenal star earns £400,000-per-week at Old Trafford and United are keen to get him off their wage bill.

Inter have 10 games of the season remaining and sit third in Serie A, eight points behind leaders Juventus.

The club’s CEO, Beppe Marotta, says that he is frustrated with the way talks are progressing as the two clubs try to reach an agreement.

Speaking to Sky Sports, as quoted by the Mirror, he said: “This is a great regulatory anomaly that needs to be resolved because we are still dealing with Chelsea (about Victor Moses) and Manchester United today to try to extend their loans.

“It is not a beautiful thing. We are also dealing with Bayern Munich over Ivan Perisic.”

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Alexis has just been appalling for United.

With his wages, he earns £20.8 million-per-year at Old Trafford, and has been nothing short of a disgrace.

He has made 45 appearances in total for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, scoring five goals – against Huddersfield Town, Swansea City, and Newcastle United in the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Of those three top-flight teams, only Newcastle remain in the league.

This season, he has scored just once for Inter, and it is little surprise they don’t want him to stay.

He has been an unmitigated disaster; United aren’t likely to receive anything when they eventually shift him; in fact, they might have to pay another club to take him off their hands.
