West Ham offered chance to sign Serie A ace

West Ham United could be playing in the Premier League next season but they could also, potentially, be playing in the Championship.

The Hammers are currently 17th in the top-flight, level on points with both AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa.

They are clear of the drop zone on goal difference alone and they have just seven games remaining in which to preserve their Premier League status.

They have a tough run-in, playing Chelsea on Wednesday before games against the likes of Norwich City, in 20th, Manchester United, and, on the final day of the season, Villa, in what could be a relegation decider.

Nevertheless, rumours continue to swirl about their potential summer activity and a new report claims they have been offered Roma winger Cengiz Under.

AreaNapoli reports that the forward is being offered around as Roma look to raise funds for their summer business.

Borussia Dortmund were contacted about the potential of signing the Turkey international but turned down the chance.

Both West Ham and Everton have been offered the potential to secure the signature of the 22-year-old in the coming months, along with Italian club Napoli.

The Hammers’ interest is said to depend entirely on whether they can stay in the Premier League.

Roma want €35 million (£32m) for the forward, who has made 21 appearances in all competitions and scored three goals this season.

In total, he has made 86 appearances for Roma, scoring 17 goals and registering 12 assists.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

West Ham simply don’t need Under.

It might sound like a bizarre statement, given that he is a fine player and the Irons’ are struggling in the top-flight.

But they have a number of options that can already play on the flank.

They have Felipe Anderson, Robert Snodgrass, Michail Antonio, Andriy Yarmolenko, and Jarrod Bowen who can all feature on the right wing.

They really don’t need to make a move for another winger; it’s completely unnecessary.
