It's set to be a big summer for Tottenham Hotspur.

With the North London side way off the pace in their pursuit of a top four finish, it's inevitable that a big summer in the transfer market beckons.

Jose Mourinho's side are nine points behind fourth-place Chelsea at present, and with just seven games left it's likely that they'll miss out on a place in the Champions League next term.

That means that recruitment needs to be perfect if they're to get themselves back on track next term.

One position where the club need to strengthen is in attack.

Harry Kane has single-handedly been leading the line for too long and Spurs would certainly benefit from another option to ease the workload on the Tottenham talisman.

Unfortunately, that man might not be Arkadiusz Milik.

GiveMeSport exclusively revealed that the North London side were considering a part-exchange for the Napoli forward, with Erik Lamela tipped to go the other way.

TuttoMercatoWeb then claimed that the Italian side would only consider an offer in the region of £35m-£45million.

However a fresh report from Tuttosport has suggested that Milik has his heart set on a move to Juventus.

It's claimed that Spurs and Atletico Madrid have both made contact over a move, but have been knocked back in their approach, with a move to Turin the preference for the 13-goal striker.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

While this is a clear blow for Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer market, I believe that it could be a sign of more frustration to come.

Spurs will have been targeting a place in the Champions League next term, however that now seems unlikely.

As a result, it means that Jose Mourinho's side may struggle to compete for the best players in the world with many prioritising a chance to play in Europe's elite competition.

Juventus would certainly offer Arkadiusz Milik that opportunity, meaning that it would be no surprise if that proved to be decisive in this case.

It just goes to show how important a top four finish is for Spurs and their Premier League rivals.
