Manchester United fans were thrilled when their club announced the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon at the end of January - but even they couldn’t have predicted how quickly the Portuguese midfielder would hit the ground running.Fernandes, who cost an initial £47 million, has been magnificent for the Red Devils. He’s given everybody at Old Trafford a huge lift and the club’s supporters idolise him already. The 25-year-old only played 64 minutes during Tuesday night’s comfortable 3-0 away win over Brighton; however, that was enough time to seal all three points for his team.Mason Greenwood scored the visitors’ first goal in the 16th minute, but it was Bruno who stole the show, scoring a goal either side of half-time.Sky Sports picked Fernandes as their Man of the Match. That’s now seven Man of the Match awards in just 13 games for the technically-gifted midfielder.

Sky also displayed an eye-opening stat after the match, proving that Bruno is currently bossing the Premier League.

Since he made his debut on February 1, no player in England’s top division has been involved in more Premier League goals.

He’s currently outperforming every other player in terms of goals and assists - including Liverpool’s revered duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

He's also smashing it at United, as the following numbers show...

In fact, the overall effect Fernandes has had on Man Utd in recent months has been remarkable.

Since making his debut, United have sealed the joint-most points (18), scored the most goals (15) and conceded the joint-fewest goals (2) in the Premier League.

A transformative signing, indeed.

“We didn’t concede any goal once again,” Fernandes was quoted as saying by the Guardian after the match. “The defenders did an amazing job and the whole team deserved the result. We know if we keep this up we can make it into the Champions League placings.”

The Portugal international is also keen to not to put too much emphasis on his partnership with Paul Pogba.

“Paul is an amazing player but I don’t want to talk too much about me and him,” he added. “We are a team, and this was a team performance. Talking about me and Paul isn’t fair on the rest of the lads, I would rather talk about everyone.”
