Emiliano Buendia is probably heading back into the Championship if he stays with Norwich City.
The Canaries are bottom of the Premier League, winning just five of 31 games, taking 21 points from their 31 games.
They are six points away from safety, with West Ham having 27 points in 17th, and it seems as though Daniel Farke’s men will be dropping through the trapdoor.
Buendia has been linked away from Carrow Road in recent months, and The Pink Un quoted reports in Spain in April, claiming that Atletico Madrid were interested in securing his signature.
Leeds United have also been linked with a move for the playmaker, as Read Norwich reported that an enquiry had been made by Marcelo Bielsa’s men last week.
And Noel Whelan believes that Buendia, who plays on the wing, would be the perfect long-term replacement to Pablo Hernandez at Elland Road.
Buendia has made 30 appearances in the Premier League this season, registering a total of seven assists.
Whelan told Football Insider: “He could be the man to replace Pablo long-term but I am sure Orta will be looking at many options.
“There will be a number of players considered for that number 10 position to give Pablo the help he needs to get through a season. He is going to need help. He will not be able to play every game at the top level.
“Buendia has done very well at Norwich.
“It is a crucial position, number 10, whoever plays there is your Diego Maradona. They have to be creative, score goals, take set pieces – he is your ace in the pack.
“In the Premier League you need a real magician in there. Someone like Pablo but a bit younger.”

Read Norwich reports that Buendia is likely to leave if Norwich are relegated and Leeds are likely to try to bring him with them if they are promoted to the Premier League.
Buendia is valued at €14.5 million (£13.1m) by Transfermarkt and a deal at such a fee would represent a shrewd addition.
Hernandez is 35 and is approaching the twilight of his career; it remains to be seen how he would adapt to life in the Premier League.
Bringing in Buendia, a mazy dribbler who can unlock defences and move the ball brilliantly, would be a clever acquisition, particularly at such a low fee.
They should try to make this happen.
