However, there is now another face that could arrive.Journalist Joe Crann took to Twitter on Wednesday to confirm that Rangers were indeed interested in midfielder Bongani Zungu. The South African was linked with a switch to Scotland last week but now talks are apparently ongoing to seal his signature.ZunguThe journalist revealed that negotiations are taking place over a deal that could cost Gerrard and co around €5m (£4.5m).He said:

One issue with any deal, however, is the fact that there's currently a lack of flights out of South Africa.

Whether that continues to occur remains to be seen but Rangers' pursuit could, unfortunately, be curtailed by COVID-19.

Zungu

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Currently plying his trade for Amiens in French football, he is hardly a household name.

However, he has vast experience and has been capped 24 times by his country.

Though, you do have to slightly question Rangers' interest given his performances in Ligue 1 this term.

He has started just ten matches and when he has played, he's never really set the world alight.

Zungu has a pass success rate below 80%, a number that isn't too impressive for a midfielder.

On top of that, he has mustered just 0.8 interceptions.

However, there is a redeeming feature as far as his tackling goes - completing 1.3 per match. Considering he's appeared 11 times from the bench, that's a handy number.

Though, at around £4.5m, Gerrard would surely want more from a defensive-minded player.

Unfortunately for the Light Blues, Zungu doesn't strike you as the type of player that could help bridge the gap to Celtic.
