Premier League is back - and so too is VAR.Earlier on Wednesday, VAR took forever to give Everton a controversial penalty against Leicester for handball. And in the later kick-off, West Ham had a first half goal ruled out by technology.Tomas Soucek appeared to have put the home side ahead in their crucial London derby against Chelsea as the defender scrambled the ball in from a corner. However, after goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga appealed for offside, VAR decided to see if Michail Antonio was interfering as he led on the floor. And after three-and-a-half minutes, VAR ruled that he, indeed, was. No goal.

To make matters worse, Chelsea went up the other end and won themselves a penalty, which Willian put away to put the Blues 1-0 up.

Talk about rubbing salt into wounds.

However, on the stroke of half time, Soucek did get himself on the scoresheet from a corner - and this time it counted.

The clash is obviously very important to both sides - and they could be encouraged by results earlier in the day.

Chelsea had the chance to go third in the table after Leicester had lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, for West Ham, they saw both Bournemouth and Norwich lose heavily to Newcastle and Arsenal respectively meaning they had a chance to move clear of the relegation zone.

Just how important that VAR call might be come the end of the season remains to be seen...
