The future of Thiago Silva looks set to rumble on this summer.

Paris Saint-Germain revealed last month that the 35-year-old would be released by the French side alongside experienced striker Edinson Cavani.

That means that a number of clubs will now be pulling together proposals to try and attract the Brazilian veteran.

Reports from 90min claimed that the likes of Newcastle United, Everton, West Ham and Wolves will be competing for his signature, while a host of clubs around the world will also be keen on a move.

However Arsenal will be hoping that they hold a trump card to get him to North London.

The Daily Mail have reported that Arsenal have already made contact over a move for Thiago Silva.

It's suggested that Mikel Arteta has already spoken to the defender about the prospect of a move, while also using his squad to convince him.

David Luiz is said to have been asked to speak to Silva to convince his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate to pick the Gunners over the rest of the sides interested.

Having just signed a contract himself, Luiz is probably the perfect person to speak to his fellow Brazilian about the prospect of a move.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This would be some signing if Arsenal could pull it off.

Thiago Silva is one of the most decorated defenders of this generation and is a player who many youngsters around the world look up to.

Okay, he's 35 and his best years are behind him but the Brazilian certainly has a lot to offer.

There's no doubt that he would be a wonderful addition for any club in the Premier League - particularly one like Arsenal who are in desperate need of experience in their defensive line.

Whether they will be able to afford a player such as Thiago Silva remains to be seen, but it would be quite something if they could pull it off.
