It was a night to remember for Newcastle United.
Following a disheartening defeat against Manchester City last weekend, few would have expected such an emphatic return to form following the long trip to Bournemouth.
However after securing a one-sided 4-1 victory over Eddie Howe’s side, supporters were naturally delighted with such a dominant display.
There were plenty of positives to come from the clash at the Vitality Stadium, however there was an injury worry or two that surfaced over the 90 minutes.
One was an injury to Sean Longstaff who hobbled off the pitch shortly after scoring Newcastle United’s second goal.
The midfielder looked in some discomfort as he went off, and discussing the injury after the match, Bruce says that he doesn’t yet know how bad the injury is.
Asked about injuries, as quoted by Chronicle Live, Bruce said: We’ve got a few, although I’ll not quite know how bad for a little while.
“Sean’s got a hamstring that kept him off, which is a blow because I thought it was as good as I’ve seen him look.”
Asked about other injuries, Bruce said: “We’ve got one or two others – Manquillo’s got a bit of a strain – but I’ll not really know for the next 24 or 48 hours.”
GIVEMESPORT’S Phil Spencer says…
What a result this was for Newcastle United.
Few expected such a dominant display against Bournemouth but Steve Bruce deserves all-sorts of credit for the way that he set his team up.
The only downside was the injury to Sean Longstaff.
He certainly made his mark on the game during his time on the pitch, and the hope will be that his injury is not too serious.
