Alexis Sanchez, remember him?

Sure you do, the man who pocketed £500,000-a-week to watch his own career fall apart under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, ring a bell?

The Chilean finally saw his Old Trafford nightmare come to an end last summer when he joined Inter Milan on loan.

However, his bad luck continued in Italy, with injuries restricting Sanchez to just 14 appearances in all competitions before the 2019/20 season was brought to a halt by the coronavirus pandemic.

In that time, he managed just one goal and two assists, so it was no wonder why he wasn't handed a starting berth for the resumption of the Italian season in June.

That was until last night. Inter boss Antonio Conte gave the Chilean a start against Brescia and Sanchez repaid his faith tenfold.

Inter ran out 6-0 winners in the San Siro, with the former Arsenal man scoring from the penalty spot and contributing with two assists.

Sanchez's highlights from the game can be found below and his brilliant performance begs the question; will 2020 ever stop delivering surprises?

Not bad Alexis, not bad.

The 31-year-old's assist for Ashley Young - a goal made in Manchester - was picture-perfect, while his beautiful through-ball to Victor Moses saw Inter awarded a penalty, which Sanchez then converted.

That was all within the first-half and to cap off a wonderful display, Sanchez's deft free-kick was headed home by Roberto Gagliardini seven minutes into the second period.

The Chilean's link-up play throughout was reminiscent of his days at Arsenal, where he was revered as one of the most complete forwards on the planet.

Sanchez in action for Inter

After the game, Conte told the media: We signed Alexis Sanchez to bring quality to the side. He's not the same player I witnessed in England but he's on the right path. He came on against Parma with the right attitude and I saw him work very hard today.”

There's still a long way to go for Sanchez to complete his redemption, but he finally appears to be on the right path.
