It's set to be an exciting summer for Newcastle United supporters.

While the Premier League are yet to make a decision on the proposed takeover of the club from Amanda Staveley and the Saudi-backed consortium for a sum of £300m, that won't stop them making preparations for the transfer market.

Victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday night has all-but secured survival in the Premier League, meaning that plans can be made for next season.

Regardless of who will be running the club, the first team squad needs strengthening and that has to be a priority.

Many names have already been linked with a move, but one could certainly gets fans very excited.

According to German publication Kicker, Newcastle United are keen on a move for for Sebastian Andersson.

The Union Berlin striker is said to be attracting plenty of attention this summer after an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga.

Andersson has scored 13 goals in 36 appearances for the German side, leading to speculation over his future.

Valued at £4.3million bt Transfermarkt, it's claimed that the 28-year-old has a release clause in his contract that could make him available for a cut-price fee.

While a move to the Premier League would no doubt be his preference, there's likely to be no shortage of interest in his signature.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a coup this could be for Newcastle United.

Sebastian Andersson has proven himself as a top quality striker after racking up an impressive 13 goals in the Bundesliga this term.

That means that it's no surprise that he's attracting interest from so many clubs.

With such a low release clause it means that someone is going to tie up a real bargain for a striker with a proven track record.

Andersson is in the best years of his career and so whoever gets him will be signing a player who is ready to hit the ground running.

With Newcastle forking out on Joelinton last summer, a cut-price move could suit Newcastle down to the ground.

That means that this is certainly one to watch.
