Newcastle saved one of their best performances of the season for Wednesday evening

Steve Bruce's side, hardly a team renowned for their attacking abilities, beat Bournemouth 4-1 at the Vitality Stadium.

Given the current takeover saga, it was a timely reminder to PIF of why they're looking to buy the Magpies.

However, when the deal goes through remains to be seen.

For weeks now it's been speculated as to when it'll be wrapped up but as usual, it's now all down to the Premier League.

Richard Masters received a grilling from Members of Parliament on Tuesday where it was suggested any deal passing through from the Prince Investment Fund would be humiliating.

Piracy claims have put everything on hold but now it's seemingly become a game of money.

Alan Nixon announced last week that everything seemingly hindered on a TV deal being agreed between Saudi Arabia and PIF.

Those claims were then furthered by George Caulkin this week who revealed what the current status on the takeover was. He talked about the piracy issues and shared his thoughts on what needed to happen.

Speaking to the Pod On The Tyne podcast, he said:

"The Premier League have been fighting for years to get this sorted and effectively. I'm not accusing Saudi of stealing but it is stealing the Premier League's product. And so, for the idea that Saudi becomes involved in this country in football is kind of ridiculous, and it does need to be sorted out. Not just with a statement saying 'okay yeah that's all fine'.

"I think it needs to be sorted out in a meaningful way. I think that's a huge part of what's happening at the moment. My opinion hasn't weighed and by that I mean I've tried to certainly reflect the confidence in the buyers in the stuff that I've talked about, but my confidence has always been that eventually money will win.

"That's not something that I think is a good thing in this world. But, that is football and the Premier League.

"I think this an opportunity for the Premier League to get more money to sort out piracy and potentially to have a bidder for future TV rights deals and you're talking about a very very rich wealthy country but is hellishly complicated."

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

It's hardly surprising that the Premier League are trying to negotiate something for themselves from this deal.

After all, this is the richest football league in the world we're talking about.

The powers that be have a certain degree of greed tagged to them, negotiating TV deals that cost in the region of £4.464bn.

Thus, when a controversial oil-rich country looks to do a deal with the top-flight, they are going to drain them for as much as possible.

However, in this case, it's hard to argue against the Premier League. Saudi have been thieving from their broadcasts by showing them illegally so it's only right that something's worked out.

For everyone, this might just be the best-case scenario.
