The highlight of the night for Liverpool fans against Manchester City on Thursday was the guard of honour before kick-off.

Exactly a week after it was confirmed the Reds are Premier League champions, Pep Guardiola’s side showed their respect to the team that will take their trophy.

Although there’s probably never been a more half-hearted guard of honour in Premier League history.

In fact, one City player didn’t even bother.

Footage has emerged of Bernardo Silva during the guard of honour as he stood halfway up the line.

But instead of clapping the Liverpool team onto the pitch, he just stood there having a drink from his water bottle.

Then, before even all of the opponents had passed him, he walked off.

It was something that many fans noticed on social media. Check out the reaction with City supporters clearly loving it and Kopites calling it disrespectful:

While the night started with a guard of honour for Liverpool, it ended as a procession for City.

Guardiola’s side ran out 4-0 winners as they showed everyone that they’re not actually 20 points worse off than Liverpool despite the table saying so.

Before the game, the Spanish manager confirmed his players would give Liverpool the guard of honour they deserved.

"We are going to do the guard of honour, of course," said Guardiola last week. "We will greet Liverpool, when they come to our house, in an incredible way. We are going to do it because they deserve it."

Bernardo Silva clearly didn’t get the memo…
