Leeds United are on the verge of promotion to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are top of the Championship with 40 games played.

They have taken 75 points in total, and are one point clear of second-placed West Bromwich Albion, while they are also six clear of third-placed Brentford.

Bielsa’s men face a tough run-in, though, and play relegation-threatened Stoke City and Barnsley, while they also have a grudge match against Derby County in their penultimate fixture.

Promotion may not be assured, then, but plans for the summer are already starting to take shape.

Indeed, there is the potential of exits as well as arrivals, particularly if they do make the jump into the top-flight.

And one report from Football Insider has now reported that a 19-year-old could be on his way in the coming months.

Indeed, Ryan Edmondson has played just twice for the senior side and both appearances came in 2018, against QPR and Birmingham City.

Since then, he has been watching on from the sidelines, and he is keen to get some senior football next season.

The 19-year-old has a contract that expires in the summer and the report states that he could either move on loan or permanently in this coming transfer window.

A number of Football League clubs were interested in signing him last summer but Bielsa was keen to keep him as back-up to Patrick Bamford and Eddie Nketiah.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Bielsa has been vocal about Edmondson’s struggles in recent months.

Speaking in January, he claimed that he was continually keeping an eye on the teenager.

Per the Yorkshire Evening Post, he said: “I watch all of Edmondson’s matches, and I’m always watching his effort and everything he does. After that I evaluate and I take decisions.

“Maybe they are wrong.”

It feels as though Edmondson’s time has passed, then, particularly with Bamford’s struggles in front of goal.

The striker has scored just twice in 11 games and missed a sitter in the 1-1 draw with Luton Town last time out as Leeds dropped points.

If Edmondson is not viewed as good enough to replace Bamford, he is never likely to make the grade at Elland Road.
