Two of the greatest Premier League players right now did battle last night at the Etihad Stadium as Kevin De Bruyne's Manchester City thrashed Virgil van Dijk's Liverpool 4-0.

Although it is Liverpool who have won the war, claiming their first Premier League title in history, City won the battle last night thanks to a scintillating first-half of football, which saw them fly to a 3-0 lead.

De Bruyne gave Pep Guardiola's side the lead from the penalty spot after Joe Gomez brought down Raheem Sterling, and then the Englishman himself doubled City's lead with his first Premier League goal against his former employers.

English starlet Phil Foden completed a mesmerising first half for the hosts, which left Jurgen Klopp and co. scratching their heads and wondering whether they were still drunk from celebrating.

The second half wasn't as bad for Liverpool, however, as they only conceded one more; an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain own-goal making it 4-0.

Although it was City vs Liverpool, a lot of people have been discussing a certain battle between the two clubs and that is between key men De Bruyne and Van Dijk.

With healthy debate had every week involving the two world-class talents, we thought over on our official Facebook page we'd ask football fans who they'd rather sign out of the two.

The question was simple, if you could only sign one, who you signing?

The result was conclusive.

Over 90,000 fans voted and 64% of those votes went for the Belgian playmaker.

GIVEMESPORT'S Alex Batt says...

It's hard to argue with the 64% in all honesty... De Bruyne has been a class act for Manchester City this season, and has been in previous seasons as well, and he's well on his way to breaking the Premier League assist record currently held by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

However, it is a tricky question to answer because it all depends on who the club is and what they exactly need from the transfer market.

For example, if you are currently the Arsenal manager, although both would stroll into the starting XI, you'd probably want to strengthen that leaky defence and Van Dijk would certainly help improve that.

However, if you're confident in your backline, you'd certainly sway towards De Bruyne.

Both are incredible talents, and both are comfortably world-class, but it seems like most football fans would edge towards De Bruyne.
