Liverpool are Premier League champions.

The title drought is over, and Jurgen Klopp’s men have been crowned, though their first game in the role saw them completely demolished by Manchester City.

Indeed, they lost 4-0 on Thursday night and it would have been five, had VAR not intervened in stoppage time.

That is perhaps understandable, though, when one considers that the Reds have been celebrating their title win for the duration of the week.

They face an uphill battle this summer, though, as they look to strengthen a squad that has lost just twice all term; that’s once while they were chasing the title, against Watford, and once after a week of celebrations.

It already seems that Liverpool are making plans, though, if reports are anything to go by.

Jurgen Klopp’s side may have perhaps the best starting XI in Europe but it is the squad they are looking to strengthen in the coming months.

Sport Witness quotes reports in the Turkish media claiming that they are eyeing up a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, they will send scouts to watch Trabzonspor’s clash with Galatasaray this weekend and Ugurcan Cakir will be the centre of their attention.

The stopper has, per the Sport Witness report, also been linked with Leicester City, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur but the Reds are keen to get the drop on their rivals.

Indeed, negotiations between the two clubs could even begin after the game this weekend.

Cakir is just 24 but he has made 28 appearances for Trabzonspor in the league this season, while he has also won two caps for Turkey.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This could be a smart move from the Reds’ Sporting Director, Michael Edwards.

Adrian is currently the back-up to Alisson Becker but he looked remarkably shaky when he stepped in for the Brazil international earlier this season.

Indeed, he played a key role in the Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid at Anfield, making two mistakes. In 18 games, Adrian has conceded 24 goals, and is also turning 34 next year.

A move for Cakir would be an upgrade on the Spaniard, and would provide some better cover than the former West Ham United stopper.

He is valued at £8.5 million by Transfermarkt and has a contract until 2024 and a deal at such a fee would be a bargain for the Reds.
