The sporting world was today rocked by the news of the death of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dad, Abdulmanap.

The 57-year-old Russian sadly passed away in a Moscow hospital due to COVID-19 complications after battling the virus for several weeks.

Abdulmanap had initially suffered a heart attack after being diagnosed with coronavirus, which required emergency bypass surgery, after which he was twice placed into a medically-induced coma.

Doctors had at one point upgraded his condition to 'serious but stable' but sadly, things took a turn for the worse.

Abdulmanap was not only Khabib's father, but also his UFC trainer and he was a key man behind The Eagle's dominance within the sport.

UFC stars have been quick to share their sympathies with the Nurmagomedov family and the latest is Conor McGregor.

The Irishman posted a touching statement on his official Twitter account, which read: "'The loss of a father, a coach, and a dedicated supporter of the sport. Condolences and rest in peace Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov."

Well said, Conor.

Both McGregor and Khabib have been embroiled in a heated UFC feud for many years, but it's good to see the Notorious putting rivalries aside in such tragic circumstances.

Our thoughts and our condolences here at GIVEMESPORT go to all of the Nurmagomedov family at this time.
