Despite signing Moi Elyounoussi again, it was revealed that Fraser Forster is unlikely to return.
Southampton reportedly want him to compete for the number one spot alongside Alex McCarthy next season, while it's also suggested any deal would be complicated because of his colossal wages at St Mary's.
He is currently on just shy of £100k-a-week, a salary that the Hoops would struggle to come anywhere near to affording.
As a result, the Bhoys are in the market for alternatives.
Joe Hart is one player who could arrive through the door. A free agent, the former Burnley stopped can join for absolutely nothing.
The same goes for Vaclav Hladky who is out of contract after leaving St Mirren.
However, they are also considering Wigan 'keeper David Marshall, someone who's already enjoyed a stint at Parkhead.
Though, one goalkeeper has been a target for a considerable period of time now.
That happens to be Greece international Vasilis Barkas. The AEK Athens man was first linked back in October 2019 but now Celtic's interest is beginning to materialise.
Head of Recruitment, Nick Hammond, has reportedly now made an official enquiry to sign the player, being told they'll have to cough up £5m in order to prise him away from the Greek capital.
Barkas has been capped ten times by his country and represents a rather different option to the aforementioned targets.
New coach Gavin Strachan confirmed that Hammond is working hard to wrap things up: "Speaking to Stevie Woods and Nicky Hammond briefly, they're certainly working very hard on that side of things, I know that," he revealed.

Barkas has experience at the international level but one has to wonder whether he's the best option for Celtic at the moment.
After all, the Hoops have three propositions with far greater knowledge of the British game.
If you were going off that alone, Marshall and Hladky would be the best options given they've already played in Scotland's top-flight. However, it's important to remember where Hart has come from.
The 33-year-old has played in multiple international tournaments, winning a plethora of major honours with Manchester City.
His career may have stagnated with Torino and then Burnley but he remains a top goalkeeper, one who has plenty to prove after a couple of years away from the limelight.
Not to mention, both he and Hladky would be free transfers.
At a time where money is tight because of the dreaded Coronavirus crisis, saving transfer fees where possible is even more important.
Only if Hammond can't lure Hart to Glasgow, should he pay the £5m required to AEK for Barkas.
