Hafthor Bjornsson smashes lift challenge which had Dan Bilzerian offering $25,000

Most people simply know Dan Bilzerian as the guy that has a lot of money, and a lot of women.

In his spare time, which he seems to have a lot of, Bilzerian is a fitness fanatic. He spends a huge amount of time in his private gyms, lifting weights, doing cardio, and other exercises to keep himself completely ripped.

In a YouTube video released back in August 2019, Bilzerian can be found working alongside Hafthor Bjornsson, also known as ‘The Mountain,’ working out in a gym, trying new equipment and lifting some extremely heavy weights.

Recently breaking the world record for the heaviest deadlift in history, Bjornsson is certainly no stranger to a heavy lift or two. Bilzerian, on the other hand, is more of an all-round performer than a lifting specialist like his Icelandic friend.

In one part of the video, Bjornsson can be found showing a certain weight to Bilzerian, which weighs in at 70kg, and can only be lifted by one hand. Unsurprisingly, ‘The Mountain’ completes the lift with absolute ease, showing off his insane strength and coordination by lifting it with each hand separately.

After the lift, Bjornsson said: “This is heavy. Anybody in the team can try it, if you can do it, you get a free t-shirt.”

Bilzerian immediately leaps at the opportunity to test his strength, saying: “This should be easier than that [a previous lift].”

Oh Dan, how wrong you were.

Upon gripping the weight, the American realises that the handle of the weight spins as you hold it, and with his comparably tiny hands, he finds it extremely difficult to get a sturdy grip on the weight.

Bjornsson recommends he tries grabbing it from the top, but his grip just wasn’t strong enough to keep the handle from rotating as he attempted to lift the weight from the ground.

After eventually giving up, Bilzerian steps away from the weight, and Bjornsson’s dad Thor steps in and seemingly lifts it with ease. A bit embarrassing for Bilzerian.

Clearly running out of options, Bilzerian offers $25,000 to the next guy in line if he’s able to lift the tricky weight just once. Luckily for Dan’s wallet, not that it would make much of a dent, the guy isn’t able to get it off the ground for a proper lift.

Bilzerian blames his grip for not being able to lift the weight, so maybe he should spend some more of his gym time working on that. It’s all nice to look good, but even better to be able to use the strength properly.
