Rangers FC have big plans for the coming season.

Celtic have dominated Scottish football in recent years but the hope at Ibrox is that this is about to change.

Neil Lennon's side have hopes of making it 10-straight league titles - something that Steven Gerrard's side are determined to stop.

If they're to do that, Rangers will need to strengthen in the transfer market - something that they're already showing signs of doing.

Unfortunately for the best talent there could be some strong competition, and that's certainly the case regarding Ivan Toney.

Football Insider are reporting that Rangers are to open talks with the frontman.

The striker has attracted the attention of Celtic, Leeds United, Watford, Brentford and West Brom after scoring 26 goals for Peterborough United this term.

His hope was to guide the Posh to the Championship this season, but after missing out on promotion it seems that he's set to move on.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

There's no doubt that Ivan Toney is capable of playing at the highest level.

Having dominated League One this term, the former Newcastle United man is appears to be more than ready to step up.

Whether he's ready for a move to the Premier League is up for debate, but Toney could certainly do a job for a promotion-chasing Championship club, or a top of the table Scottish side like Celtic or Rangers.

The only stumbling block is that £8million price tag which may well prove to be troublesome for several clubs who may be looking at more cost-effective solutions.

But with Rangers facing the prospect of losing Alfredo Morelos, it could be a no-brainer.

Morelos seemingly wants to move away from Ibrox and that means that Steven Gerrard's side need to act.

The hope is that they can beat Celtic to the league title, but in order to do that they're going to need someone who can score 25-30 goals this term.

Ivan Toney is certainly capable of doing that, and so a move could prove to be a shrewd addition.
