UFC News: Jorge Masvidal vs Kamaru Usman negotiations 'are done' for UFC 251

Jorge Mavidal vs Kamaru Usman has reportedly been agreed for UFC 251.

According to ESPN, after main-event fighter Glibert Burns was removed from next Saturday card, the UFC managed to agree a deal for one of the biggest fights possible to make right now.

The news will come as a pleasant surprise to fight fans after the UFC has struggled for so long to agree a new deal with Masvidal, who was one of the outstanding performers of 2019.

Masvidal scored a stunning knockout victory over Darren Till, recorded the fastest stoppage in UFC history over Ben Askren and defeated Nate Diaz via a doctor's stoppage for the perfect year.

And having secured the BMF belt with his win in the latter, Masvidal will now have the chance to make history by securing the welterweight title against one of the sport's pound-for-pound stars.

Sources close to Ariel Helwani have explained that negotiations for the fight 'are done' and that the fight simply pends on the two receiving negative results from COVID-19 tests.

So, yes, the deal isn't quite over the line yet, but fight fans can feasibly start looking forward to one of the biggest bouts imaginable on 'Fight Island' in just a matter of days.

The rest of the card goes as follows:

Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway (featherweight)

Petr Yan vs Jose Aldo (bantamweight)

Jessica Andrade vs Rose Namajunas (women's strawweight)

Amanda Ribas vs Paige VanZant (women's flyweight)

UFC have been one of the most active sporting organisations amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and there's nothing to suggest that their latest event won't be yet another success for Dana White.

Even with live sport filtering back in almost every country around the world, you can't pit Masvidal against the welterweight world champion and not expect pay-per-view buys through the roof.
