Arsenal clearly don’t have a lot of money.

The Gunners are preparing for the summer transfer window but there appear to be worries as to how they will be able to afford their major summer targets.

A number of reports claim that the club are pushing forward with their plans to try to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad.

However, there is now something of a fly in the ointment.

The Gunners are said to be interested in signing Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid this summer and he is keen to move to the club.

Manager Arteta has approved the move for Partey, as has technical director Edu.

But a new report from The Daily Mail claims that the Gunners will have to take steps to be able to afford the Ghana international.

Indeed, they are said to have identified three potential players who can leave the club in order to fund a deal.

Midfielders Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi could potentially be for sale, as is striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The Mail claims that one of them could be sold to fund the move for Partey; he is valued at £36 million by Transfermarkt.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

The defensive midfielder has been identified as a potential key arrival.

And the prospect of selling Lacazette really does make sense.

He has scored just eight Premier League goals this season but there are a number of young, exceptional forwards who could step in if the France international departs.

They have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already at the club, while Eddie Nketiah is an undeniable talent who has already scored two league goals this term.

They also have Gabriel Martinelli, a left winger who can also operate through the middle, and who has scored 10 goals in all competitions this term.

Lacazette is valued at €48m (£43.3m) by Transfermarkt and moving him on, when there are players in the pipeline to replace him, and bringing in a defensive midfielder to plug a gap in the squad, makes all the sense in the world.
